Katsucon 007 (16-18 February, 2001)
Hyatt Crystal City, Arlington, Virginia

Katsucon 007--the last time we Katsuconners all gather in Crystal City, with its nice hotels and lousy McDonald's! I'll miss the nifty Hyatt con hotel, but NOT the city around. As of the conclusion of K007, I'd attended seven conventions, four of which were held in this same hotel. Considering that there was *nothing* of interest outside the Hyatt, can ya really blame me for being glad to see the back of Crystal City?

You might recall the Spiritual Crusade undertaken Saturday night at Otakon 2000: The legendary tale of how we--the combined holy armies of ORGYcon, (#)CAML, and an assortment of random otaku mercenaries--fought LORD KING Danny's Unholy Ball. Our warriors eventually defeated the Ball in a climactic dodgeball battle, reclaiming the sacred Baltimore Convention Center. Unfortunately, it seems that our fight against impure forces was only the beginning of a long quest for the Otaku Warriors....

After Otakon 2000, disturbing rumors emerged that the gods were gathering at a divine convention, called Katsucon 007, to decide the fate of the world (read: how to destroy it, duh; gods love cliches). Our holy soldiers decided to investigate these rumors by infiltrating Katsucon disguised as deities and super-beings themselves.

The following is the photo documentary of our mission at the assembly of the gods, Katsu 007. *Bows* I'm DēL, your evilly friendly god-ass-kickin' priestess of many orders, and the one responsible for all the insanity you're about to see! Okay, so I didn't CAUSE most of it, but I damn sure got photos of everything. =P~ (Not to mention being INVOLVED in nearly all the mischief, but as it says in The Neverending Story, THAT'S another tale and shall be told another time.)

On the negative side, a LOT of my photos didn't turn out for some reason, so a buncha really good shots I remember taking at Katsucon aren't on this page. ={ Some were only partially damaged, and I uploaded them anyways, despite maybe looking a little streaked or off-color.

If you were at the K007 infiltration, you might have seen my disguises--Lilimon from Digimon Adventure, and Duette Maxwell of Gundam W fandom. These two and my other costumes can be found at The Digivolution of Donielle Mari Mystagic.

You might also remember me if you signed my Notebook, so I could identify your name and costume on this site. Unfortunately, while the principle of The Notebook worked very well at Otakon 2000, people at K007 just got really silly with it. Silly is good. Don't get me wrong there. But most who signed The Notebook just wrote random stuff in there and didn't tell me who the hell they were disguised as for infiltrating the gods' con. In retaliation, I've scanned in everyone's signatures, silly or otherwise, and uploaded them with the photos. =^^= Rejoice, my holy brethren! (It sounds like I was annoyed that people didn't ID their costumes in the Notebook--but I'm actually rather amused with the things they wrote instead. Duct Tape Rules! ;)

Lastly, I have a logfile of quotes recorded at the convention. Simply click on Convention Quotes. =^^=

Now, let the evil begin!

If any of your information is misspelled or misrepresented, let me know so I can fix it! It's my own fault for trying to get people to write down their info in a tiny notebook while walking. =^-~=

•One of the many religious orders represented at Katsucon 007 was ORGYcon, of which this little priestess is a proud member. =^^= Sana and Miaka, our resident Yiddish brethren, made adorable badges to help us identify ourselves to other ORGYconners. Here's my sw33t badge, depicting my Linka of Hyrule costume.

•Aa! Megami-sama, Cowboy Bebop, Dragonball, and Final Fantasy Tactics: Boi, our first costume photo's just full of holy warriors, innit? The two brave priestesses up front are disguised as goddess sisters Urd and Belldandy (A!MG). Behind them, from left to right, we have a Spike Spiegel (CB), a Summoner (FFT), and a certain well-known Goku (DB) cosplayer with two of his godsdamned wigs (you know we luv ya, Derek ;).

•Angel Sanctuary: Nadine's gorgeous Rosiel (thanks, Dommi! =^^=)

•Bakuretsu Hunters: Rachel as a deceptively modest-looking Tira Misu, accompanied by Billy as Marron.

•Bakuretsu Hunters: Those oh-so-sexah holy terrors--Holly as Dota and Stef as Chocolat Misu. Got Dr00l?

•Cardcaptor Sakura and Kimagure Orange Road: Janice as Sakura's mother Kinomoto, Nadeshiko; with Yaya Han's Madoka (KOR) in the background.

•What the hell; here's how Janice signed The Notebook. =^^=

•Cardcaptor Sakura: Nice and pink, it's Kinomoto, Sakura!

•Cats: Anime is optional at anime cons--as proven by this Sillabub/Jemima costume!

•Cowboy Bebop and Yu Yu Hakusho: The Cowboy Bebop clones are takin' over the con! =@.o= All right, all right. But you have to admit there are a LOT of Spike Spiegel priests in this shot. Musta belonged to the Bebop Temple over in Dallas. I don't know why the idiot gods didn't suspect something....Anyways, after all the Spike-clones there's Ollie's slightly different Spike, the back of someone dressed as Botan (YYH) (maybe there to add a little variety so the gods wouldn't catch on?), two bright yellow Faye Valentines (CB), and a Very Black Kat as Julia (CB) between them. (Thanks for the Botan ID, Yujinbito!)
